- 6/11 - 10:30-12:30
Expand your knowledge and your confidence with this class focusing on two of the most fundamental aspects of knitting: yarn and gauge. The first session is all about yarn: We will learn about different animal and plant fibers and how they affect your fabric, what makes superwash yarns special, how to substitute different yarns in your projects, and how to choose the yarn for your next project with confidence. In the second session, we will learn about gauge, why swatching is so important, and how to block your knits.
Students will participate in hands-on demonstrations and exercises in class each week. Students will also be required to knit swatches for use in the second class.
Skill Level: Intermediate
Skills Required: Students should be comfortable casting on, knitting, and purling
Supplies You Provide: One ball of worsted weight yarn and size US7 needles for knitting the swatches used in week 2. We recommend Germantown by Kelbourne Woolens, ideally in a light or bright color.
Instructor: Dianne
