Improv quilting runs the gamut when it comes to techniques, styles, and layouts. In this multi-part class we’ll learn multiple types of improv quilting and how to effectively layout and piece your improv quilt, all while learning little tips and tricks along the way.

Skill Level: Intermediate
Skills Required:
Some knowledge of quilting required
Instructor: Jen Sorenson
Supplies Needed:

  • Freezer Paper
  • Fabric Assortment:
    • Option 1: A fat quarter bundle of at least 12-15 fabrics and 1-3 background fabrics

    • Option 2: A big ziplock bag of scraps in 1-3 colors and 1-3 background fabrics

    • Option 3: An assortment of fat quarters and half yard cuts in a color palette of between 3 and 6 colors with multiple shades/values of each color and 1-3 background fabrics. Note, with this option, think of a rainbow and then remove one color and see what happens to your palette. The example I gave removes purple and replaces it with a neutral.
